Mr. Bylund’s Presentation to CCCS Board

March16

Mr. Bylund, PUSD Superintendent, attended our board meeting on Monday, March 15th and gave a short presentation that offered some insight as to the potential outcomes of being fully dependent versus fully independent with our staffing. Note: Our submitted charter renewal was submitted on Tuesday, March 16th, with a standing recommendation to be district dependent with our staffing needs.  This decision should be considered as ‘advisory’ to the PUSD Board, as they will ultimately decide whether to renew the charter as-is, or with revisions.

Please ask questions here if you want additional details, facts, etc.

You will find a PDF version of the PowerPoint in the “links to documents” section in the middle of this site.

Charter Renewal – Adopted Version

March16

Please take a look at the posted renewal document (under ‘Links’ on the lower left side of this website).  Our CCCS Governing Board adopted the document yesterday, and it is now in the hands of PUSD.

As this truly is a working document, we will adjust as needed in order to make and keep this a vital plan for our future!

No Arnold, no!

January29

CCCS just received the latest state-wide budget estimates from School Services of California.

Ouch.

Are we surprised? In a nutshell, it appears we will operate with approximately $225 less per student next year than the amount this current year’s budget apportioned us. This impending shortfall, combined with the future lack of  any ARRA monies (one-time 2009-10 federal stimulus dollars; we received 57k this year), and the need to create a mandatory 3% reserve in order to renew (approx. 38K), puts us in a perilous position.

Somehow, we will make it work. We have talented parents and educators on staff who will “find the money” if any exists through grants, foundations, other venues. Some difficult choices are ahead of us, but we must think positively!

Yes, if you have been bequeathed a large inheritance, we will gladly take 10% for our students . . .
